David Turk
Owner & Founder
David founded Indiana Market & Catering in the East Village in the mid-1980’s. Back in those days, the neighborhood was not quite “up and coming” yet, but proved to be fertile ground to build a business. At that moment in time, David says he realized he was one of the “lucky ones”, and was inspired to create his own New York success story. Armed with degrees in Economics and Psychology from the University of Rochester, followed by advanced training in Hospitality Management at the New York City College of Technology, and a true passion for the business, David grew Indiana Market & Catering into one of the city’s top caterers, known for its commitment to customer service.
Today, after over thirty years in the industry, David is a frequent consultant, and has been invited to lecture around the country on the art of customer service and the business of catering. His hosts have included the American Institute of Wine and Food, New York University, Society for Women in Foodservice, New York Restaurant Association, James Beard House, The New School, The New York Restaurant School, Catersource, The Institute of Culinary Education, The Special Event, and The Fancy Food Show among others. His writings have appeared in Catering Magazine and Catersource. Most recently, David was an inductee into the Excalibur Society for Hospitality and Service Excellence.
